4% Unemployment Rate for College Graduates

Okay, you don’t believe this????  This is the latest unemployment figure from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Read it yourself in the August 29th issue of Barron’s (page 5).  For those with only a high school education but no graduation,  it is 14%.    How well do these statistics cover the stopped looking, under employed, working two jobs?  Those figure bring the numbers up some more.

Let’s just look at that 4% figure.  What if you who are now unemployed with a college degree decide to focus on the fact that 96% of you are working?  Does this create an attitude shift?  It can.  It is all in the eyes of the beholder.  I am not saying you are in the perfect job or having the best experience through your working environment.  You are, however, if you are working, in the flow.  The $8.50/hour job can bring you to the $20/hour …

The Inmates Are Running the Asylum

Light travels faster than sound.  That is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.”

Do you remember the movie  several years back, “The King of Hearts”,  where the inmates escape from their cells and take over the mental hospital?  It was a premise with a psychological twist.  They actually could run it better than the guards.  Do we need to take over?  Are we the inmates?  Or as Lady Astor supposedly said at her death bed with all the people standing around–“Am I dying or is this my birthday?”

“The Sky is Falling” said Chicken Little

Buckle up and hang on while the economy and government goes through the Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.  (One of the favorite rides at Disney Land.  It is not ending any time soon–soon being several years.  It does NOT surprise me and it really shouldn’t surprise anyone.  It has been a “head-in-the-sand” situation for several years so this is what it looks like trying to turn the big ship around.

Leadership–where is that?  Who is that?  Don’t look for anything on the horizon anytime soon.  That person will appear but not yet.  If you can keep in mind, you must start thinking about 12 years not two or three you can create a plan that can be adjusted to the changing conditions.  At least we have news of low interest rates for two years.  That should help keep gold continuing its climb.  Gold is all about flight to safety.  The more …
