The 12th month of the year

Dear Friends,

Wasn't it just a few months ago we were making New Year's resolutions? Here we are closing out this year and we wonder where and how it moved so quickly. December is such an "all you can eat" venue. It's the 12th month of year which in Numerology language is really another 3 month (1 + 2 = 3). Three is the expansion number, the creative number, the expressive number and possesses the deeper meaning of joy. It can become very scattered, like a bubble machine spewing out more and more bubbles. As wonderful as the No. 3 is, the dark side is overindulgence and superficiality.

Michael Schneider in his excellentl book "A Beginner's Guide to Constructing the Universe" points out that "one" and "two" were considered by ancient mathematical philosophers to be the parents of numbers and the firstborn of these parents is the "three". We think of three as in "three strikes you're out" or "all good things come in three". Three embraces wholeness and completion through an embracing synthesis.

Let this month complete what you began in the one month of January. You have come to its completion. Enjoy this month for all its fruits of creation and remember, you will begin anew next month in the one month of January. Give yourself the opportunity to step back and reflect on what you have created this year. Do not despair if what you created is not to your liking. You can choose again and enjoy a different experience.

View From the Freeway

As you know, many people come to me for private consultations. I hear of many situations and conditions. There seems to be an undertow of uncertainty and fear. I can understand why. The news is more dreary than cheery. The freeway is clogged and the house has probably gone down in value. The war in the Middle East continues. On the face of it, it looks downright scary. To top of it all, most people are exhausted, or so they say. I believe them.

Here is really an important message to remember during all of these manifestations, "Nothing has power over us without our consent". I know that sounds somewhat trite but the truth is somewhat simple. If we don't honor ourselves, we violate our integrity by wasting our own time. It is somewhat akin to irritating ourselves.

The key to honoring ourselves is to pay attention to what we are thinking all the time. What you are thinking gets out pictured in your life. When we pay attention to what we are thinking, we may be shocked at the thoughts created. I know so many people who meditate, eat right, do the job well, are conscientious and pay their bills on times and still wonder why good things aren't happening to them. Or perhaps, a better way to phrase that is "not happening to them more often". It has really not a lot to do with the meditations, eating right, doing the job well etc. It has to do with your consciousness. What are you thinking? You can affirm until the cows come home but if you do not have the conviction of what you are affirming, you'll be waiting a long time for it to come to pass.

People, who affirm for money to pay the mortgage or rent, really want abundance, including wealth. By possessing the conviction that you are wealthy prior to it showing up and acting wealthy (over-tipping for great service is a start) will go a long way in speeding up the process. The Universe (your higher self, God, Supreme Intelligence etc.) is always listening and waiting for your guidance. If you plant it with fear, you will create great scary experiences. If you plant it with enough to pay the rent, you'll get just enough to pay the rent. Why not assume NOW that you are wealthy and that more is coming to you.

This time of year can bring great love and joy to our lives. It can also bring the pressure of time and money. Decide that you are aware of what you consent to, what you say yes to. If you don't more of the same treatment, stop saying yes to it. Relax and be more expansive. If you struggle to achieve something, you will struggle to keep something. Stop expecting the worst when you want the best. Insist on thinking the highest of yourself.

This holiday presents an opportunity for you to create a more relaxed time. I remember in my Zen instructions, we were taught to "pay attention". When we finished meditations, we had to pick lint off the floor near our cushions as well as smooth out the wrinkles in the cushion itself. When taking a shower, we had to first wipe off our wet bodies with our hands prior to using the towels. In short, we had to slow down and pay attention. When things are too hectic for you, remember to pay attention and purposely slow down. Walk in slow motion on purpose to get the hang of it. It is the opposite of what our society teaches. You will enjoy the awareness of your own body and the events going on around you.

Until next year, I wish you the most loving of times and may you love yourself as much as does the creator that created you. Remember, "Everything that happens to you helps you get to where you want to go"

Until next month,

Keep trusting yourself,

— Gail
