The 11th month of the year

Dear Friends,

Gosh, are you as pleased as I am that we here in America are approaching one of the finest holidays of the year, the Feast of Thanksgiving? I enjoy this month so much. There are no religions attached to it, no pontifications by righteous individuals, no wars over who gets the light meat or the dark meat - at least I haven't seen or heard any news stories to the same. It's just a grand time to get together with family and strangers for really a lovely meal and a break from the normal routine. Amen to that. No gift shopping to exchange as well.

In Numerology this is the 11th month of the year, the month of "peace" and inspiration. The number eleven is the higher vibration of the number 2 and is, therefore, the energy of inspiration and light and is stronger than any other month of the year. This is the only month of the year that is a duplicate double digit. It, therefore, gives it greater power and peace. You should feel a more peacefulness or a less pressured time this month. Soon to come December is more expansive, bombastic and active. November is more quiet, intuitive and patient. We are getting accustomed to the shorter day, we know winter is approaching and yet, part of us knows we need this to calm down our stressed out lives.

Take the time in November to be more at peace with your self and to be aware of other people's points of view. The number 11/2 is a partnership oriented number. We can be more observant of the other person's needs. This lends itself to more diplomacy, patience and tact. It is our month to practice peace.

A good quote to accompany this month of November comes from Hua Hu Ching who is said to be Lao Tzu's other book - on the Quiet Mind he says: "Do you imagine the universe is agitated? Go into the desert at night and look out at the stars. This practice should answer the question."

Many of you often inquire about the times we are experiencing, the struggles of the human condition, the wars, the housing markets, the environment, the moral values, the candidates. 2012 and the Mayan calendar. What a list. It could consume pages. If you scratch deep enough, it all has the smell of fear. Fear, that old teaching tool of the last Piscean Age that lasted about 2400 years is fading away but not before it grips us in its final death throe.

It can be challenging to feel the least bit encouraged by the daily news report or the gossip we hear. But these are such good times and getting even better times. That doesn't mean we won't have forest fires, or pollution or aches and pains and a downside to the housing cycle. It means that it is time for us to pay attention to something deeper than headlines. That is time for us to realize we don't not live in static conditions. Fear has sold us so well right down to the words living on "fixed incomes".

What we don't read too much about are stories of young men in Los Angeles on their bicycles covering their faces with bandanas, traveling down to the homeless area of the city early in the morning to deliver to the homeless the simple rice and bean burritos they have loving prepared and wrapped for them. They recently fed 300 individuals with their under-the-radar activity.

You also don't read too much about our own evolution as humans. In Nicholas Wade's book "Before the Dawn" on the history of humanity, he quotes, "In each society the violent and aggressive males somehow ended up with a lesser chance of breeding. This process started some 50,000 years ago and, in Wrangham's view, it is still in full spate. I think that current evidence is that we're in the middle of an evolutionary event in which tooth size is falling, jaw size is falling and it's quite reasonable to image that we're continuing to tame ourselves. This puts humans in a picture of now undergoing a process of becoming increasingly a peaceful form of a more aggressive ancestor." He goes on to say that "though war gets more space in the history books, it is the conciliatory arts of trade and exchange that have prevailed in the long run. According to the World Health Organization, only 0.3% of deaths in 2002 were caused by war."

I'll add my thoughts here as well; do we honestly think that the global warming effect is a static effect? We are too creative and ambitious to sit by and allow it to remain statistical. New jobs will be created to retrofit old buildings to make them more energy efficient, lots of new jobs requiring manual labor. New technologies to replace current fuels are being created as I write this. This is exciting and will create more new jobs. Do you realize that since 1995 we have added 1.5 billion consumers in the world (Barclay's Capital Report)? Where do we hear these things?

Let's become more conscious of the possibilities and the excitement of the times. Yes, we are stressed, yes we are distracted and yes we worry. However, you have control over your thinking. You can buy into the fear or you are being invited to think for yourself and act with wisdom. Katrina's massive water event was very tied to man made blunders not God's.

Let us be thankful this Thanksgiving for the good that is here and the good that is to come. We are in the Era of Humanity. Platitudes sound good and sell copy but knowledge and wisdom will serve you and, as a result, others will benefit.

Until next month,

Keep trusting yourself,

— Gail
