Dear Friends,

The Symbol of the Month - Driving

Recent research reminds us of the dangers of driving while talking, listening or texting on cell phones. It now seems that even "hands free" is more dangerous than holding the cell phone. This up-to-date information reminds me of a writing created 30 years ago by "Hilarion" in the book "Symbols". I thought you might be interested in the deeper meaning of driving and what the symbol of driving means - beyond basic transportation. Please take the time to read it in its entirety.

"How the reader well might ask, can the act of driving an automobile possibly have anything to do with spiritualization? Let us explain: In past centuries, in earlier ages, many human beings cared little about their fellow man and were not able to empathize with pain or hardship that another might be enduring. In those early times, men were rough with each other and abused each other physically without concern over the pain this might cause. Particularly did those who were large in bodybuild oppress the smaller and weaker of their brothers, often gaining a following or an 'army' simply through the threat of physical punishment. Many of these same 'bullies', who tended not to care about hurting others, are now employed as truck drivers. Indeed, they are attracted to the bigness of the large trucks by the quite obvious symbolism which equates the motor vehicle to the human body. They see the truck as the extension of, or equivalent of, their own physical body, and since they once were large, strong men, it is a natural thing for them to wish to control the largest of the vehicles.

But in driving their trucks, these individuals are forced to obey the many rules of the road: for example, they must drive only in one particular lane or on only one side of the road. This fact is taken by the subconscious as the equivalent of 'sticking to the straight and narrow', and the subconscious is thus constantly reminded that, in spiritual terms, there exists a path or a track which is the one to be followed if success is to be attained.

Another concept which is constantly driven home to the driver of any motor vehicle is that of respecting the physical integrity of the bodies of others. At the symbolic level, all vehicles are the physical bodies of the drivers, and this equivalence is self-evident to the subconscious of every man (Indeed, when one dreams of a car or of driving a car, the chances are great that one's own physical body - or the events occurring to the physical body - are being symbolized.)

Every driver, however, takes great pains to avoid collision with other vehicles. This constant seeking to avoid contact is taken by the subconscious as a reminder to respect the bodies of others, not to harm them. Etc.

Thus it can be seen that, lying hidden behind the seemingly obvious and merely utilitarian activity of car-driving, there is a beautiful allegorical teaching regarding the way to treat others - one which is constantly maintained before the subconscious attention of all who own and drive motorized vehicles."

Question of the Month

Why was the United States created?

Answer:

The United States was created with the express purpose to move humanity forward in its evolutionary progress. In short, it was to be the catalyst for the world's growth. In order to be able to do this deed, it had to be created at the right time on the right day so that it would have the correct numerological blueprint and the correct astrological energy package. Everything was in play on July 4th, 1776 when it began.

Since its birth back in 1776, it has grown very quickly and taken on several qualities to fulfill its destiny. The most important characteristic is the need for freedom. Without emphasis on freedom, it would not be able to fulfill its contract. Over and over again, you see the word freedom used in law, political speeches, marches, advertising and wars. America was to learn how to handle individual and collective freedoms and to spread this knowledge to all parts of the globe. The main tool used to do this task is capitalism. Other tools are marketing, fads, risks, generosity, laws, innovations, unruliness, and loud.

It has been doing its job and those who chose to be born in the United States or to get themselves to the United States through boat, plane etc. are directly connected to this role. Consciously or unconsciously, they have chosen to participate in this great task as the world learns to tame itself and combine the needs of the individual with the collective.

View from the Freeway

The last weekend in July was very busy for me, from TV appearance, lecture and book signing to the "Turning Point" workshop with Tom McAuliffe, a great financial planner, in Marin, California. I saw myself coming and going on the same freeways of California. I am sure you all feel at times the same way. My life was a bunch of U-turns. The lesson was to learn to work with "guided chaos".

As America and the world moves through these challenging times, it is important to learn the lesson of guided chaos. I have said it many times over that this phase of human development and correction is approximately 15 years in length and we are only at the beginning year of it. As we learn to downsize our lives and live a wiser more authentic relationship with ourselves, we understand what guided chaos really means. You are being invited to cast off the superfluous and the shallow, in your own life and the environment in which you surround yourself. "Waste not, want not" Overall, the world is coming to grips with its own dark side.

You can catch my July 24th ABC TV interview here and you can order a copy of the recent workshop. If you are interested, please let me know by contacting me at gail@gailminogue.com . QUALITIES TO DEVELOP DURING THIS PERIOD

  1. Focus attention - with the ADD qualities of our lives, cell phones, email, texting, sound bites etc. we are continuously being distracted - develop the quality of Focused Attention. Focus is necessary for achievement.
  2. Process old stuff quickly - forgive and move forward. You cannot afford the luxury of dwelling on others who wronged you or if you wronged yourself. Forgive yourself and move forward.
  3. Learn to function in chaos - this is essential. Keep yourself clear and develop a system that supports your goals and direction.
  4. Think income and NOT a job - Stop trying to get "jobs". Focus on what income you want/need and think of various (several ways to create it). Have fun doing this.
  5. Become more conservative - currently our society, government and laws are becoming more conservative and limiting. This is a correction. Learn to work with it.
  6. Expect a natural sequence of events - get in tune with the way life works. Stop begging God, fate or the government.
  7. Develop a spiritual practice
  8. Praise the present - no matter how stinky you think it is. I have a contact that was let out of prison early because he kept praising the place and the parole board.
  9. Upgrade yourself - Keep yourself current on trends, networks, research and keep upgrading yourself as you do your home, your computer and your values. Always think about how you can add value.
  10. You are not retiring - Get this out of your line of vision. The Soul doesn't retire. Instead, reinvent yourself. Keep growing, be useful, be loving and be patient. A blueprint is normally at least 120 years.

Tom McAuliffe and I will be presenting our Turning Point workshops in other areas of the United States. If you or your group is interested in hosting or sponsoring this workshop for an event, please let me know. It is exciting, stimulating, useful and very important information.

Until next month,

Keep trusting yourself,

— Gail
