1)The number "10" month of the year
2)View from the Freeway
Dear Friends,
October is here and with it a new beginning. This is the 10th month of the year and, therefore, a number one month. 1 + 0 = 1. We just finished the 9th month of the year, September, and with that ending came the beginning. It was Mary, Queen of Scots, (1542 to 1587) who stated "In my end is my beginning". For us all, this glorious time of the year is giving us the opportunity to begin again what we started, or meant to start, back in the other "1" month, January. This is your time to initiate the ideas that have been percolating inside of you since that time. The study of the number one is the study of the circle, the wholeness, the unity and divine order of the universe. You have come full circle. We are drawn hypnotically to the circle. Give a child a crayon or pencil and they will inevitably draw a circle. To the ancient mathematical philosophers, the circle symbolized the number one. We respond unconsciously to this shape as it reflects our own inner deep perfection, wholeness and divine nature.
October gives us the opportunity to draw it again, just as we began back in January to set our intentions for the New Year. Do you remember them? They weren't all about losing weight or getting a new relationship. Many of them reflected our deeper need for a life less fearful, more calming and more contented. Whatever your choice, choose now again. Remember you thought your way into this situation and you can think yourself out of it by making new choices - choices that support you as you are today. You have changed since January. Reflect on all that has happened to you in the last 9 months and see how much you have grown.
You will be too busy during the next few months to concentrate on choices you made back in January. So give this new opportunity to yourself to begin again. We live in the circle of life. Everything goes around and comes back to the beginning. Black Elk wrote, "Even the seasons form a great circle in their changing, and always come back again to where they were. The life of a man is in a circle from childhood to childhood and so it is in everything where power moves. Our teepees were round like the nests of birds, and these were always set in a circle, the nation's hoop."
2)View from the Freeway
How is your life going? Has it improved in the last year? Have you taken the time to step back this week and assess what progress you made in the last month, week or day? Can you process some of the things that happened to you? Can you see the pattern?
Everything we do is somehow related to a pattern in our lives. This patterning is true of all matter. We call some of the patterning, cycles. That makes it easier for us to understand them.
Just as we all personally have our patterns, so to does this country, the United States. It has its specific cycles based on several factors, including, but not limited to, its date of birth. During the next 18 years, this country will begin a similar pattern that was present approximately 237 years ago, or the beginning of the American Revolution. In some respect we have come full circle. We are about to start an "evolutionary" period. Many of the same factors established back in the 1770's will have the opportunity for review.
What can that mean for the average person on the street? One of the possibilities could be a change in the structure of the government of the United States. We will be revisiting the social contract that was put into play back in 1776 with the Declaration of Independence. One of the questions we will be pondering over the next several years is how close are we to the original intention of the founders of this country? Have we stayed true to this intention? If not, what must be done to place us in line with our true nature? It is my belief that we will, as a nation, begin the process of redressing issues salient to the members of this great nation and plan at its inception.
A few areas that will be covered during this period will be:
Changes in the financial structures of our individual and corporate tax laws
Changes in the social contract to reflect the needs of our citizenry.
Changes in our role as independent in the world to interdependent in the world
Changes in our political procedures
We are about to begin a key time for the United States. These changes will take quite a bit of time to manifest but the process has begun. We must first become aware of our own ability to think and ask for the truth rather than the facts. As we awaken to it, including our own self-deception, we begin to cure ourselves of our addiction to being deceived. Ignorance can no longer be used as the reason for denial. This self-awareness is stirring within us and we are beginning to balk at the "talking heads" by relying more on information from various unorthodox sources.
As this period begins, things begin to be exposed such as the sub-prime mortgage loans fiasco. Michael Moore's film, "Sicko", reflects discrepancies in the health care industry. Homeland Security and similar "security" issues will be examined for their authenticity. Restrictions on lending and similar financial concerns will be in place. In time we will begin to question what needs to be created for enhancement of the citizen's well being. I don't predict gloom and doom, but I do think this cycle will give us the challenge to improve the fundamental principles of this nation. The cycle will begin very slowly next year and pick up speed over the next 2 1/2 years. It will really be in its full affect in about three years and last at least 10 years. I anticipate their will be many "corrections" taking place. How we handle money and finances and how we govern being the two areas of focus.
Since the energy surrounding these times will be of "evolutionary" nature, it is probably a good idea to be very aware of how you handle money and what wise things do you need to do to take care of yourself. Diversity will become more important. Remember this is a global economy and we will be, as we are currently, affected strongly on what happens overseas. Educate yourself, particularly with overseas information. Do not rely only on local newspapers and magazines.
I am asked many times about the real estate market. Never forget the old adage "people need a place to live". Real estate is very cyclical and should be thought of as a long term investment. This correction's length will depend a great deal on the availability of money. Choose areas were people do not have enough housing due to job and population growth. Again, educate yourself. Spend at least 10% of your day's time looking over your financial picture and becoming aware of your options. Constructively change them as you see fit. Make sure you know the "real" costs of your investments. This is not a time to feign ignorance. It will only cost you money.
It is popular to spend a great deal of time attending workshops on self-development, spiritual growth and self-improvement. As we head into the next 18 years of change, I would strongly suggest you invest time and money into quality courses or programs that authentically teach you to become more financially self-sufficient. "Feel good" programs do just that, but they don't do very much for your financial bottom line. This should be a key focus of yours as we enter into this evolutionary period. Be alert to scams and schemes that sound too good to be true. Free workshops are never really free.
Until next month,
Keep trusting yourself,
Gail
